Triglycerides are the most important molecule for our organism at the level of storing energy in the form of fat. They are stored in adipose tissue cells and are comprised by the union of three fatty acids with one glycerol (glycerine) molecule.

They can come from fatty acids that we absorb from foods through the intestine (exogen), or by synthesised in the liver (endogens).

It is recommended to maintain triglyceride levels under control to avoid pathologies such as pancreatitis and cardiovascular diseases. Too-high levels are directly related to residual lipid risk.
