DRIVER DRUG TEST

22 DECEMBER 2020

Between 2005 and 2013, Spinreact was part of the Cozart group, which in turn was part of other larger groups. During this period, Spinreact was assigned the task of distributing products for detecting drugs manufactured by the group.

One of the most notable was undoubtedly DDS. An instrument capable of determining whether a person was under the effect of the drugs at the time of the test. This feature, together with the facility of performing the test using only saliva as a sample, meant that the product was perfect for analysing drugs in drivers.

There was no need for a sanitation room to perform the analysis and the result was positive only if drugs had been consumed in the past few hours. When first presented to the Mossos d’Esquadra, they immediately showed an interest and in very little time we were performing the first pilot tests. Spain would become one of the first countries in the world to test drivers and the first one to do so systematically. In just a few months, through the Servei Català de Trànsit, the Policía Foral, and Ertzaintza, local police forces each launched their own projects. We never imagined that, just 2 years after promoting the product, we would be the main suppliers in the Spanish market of saliva drug tests. During this period, Spinreact staff trained over 2500 police officers on how to use and handle the saliva drug tests and participation in events and congresses was constant. At Spinreact we are very happy to have been part of a key moment in road safety in Spain and in the world. Our effort is rewarded by every life we have helped to save and every accident we have helped avoid.
